ANCIENT BUT NEW ESSENTIAL OILS FOR HEALTH

A NEW (even ancient) VALID WAY OF NATURALLY NOURISHING OUR BODIES (inside and out) AND “NOURISHING” OUR MINDS …..'safe and effective'

We live in a world where at least 76% of all adults take some form of dietary supplementation (U.S. National Institutes of Health NIH 2017) and there are 80,000-90,000 dietary supplement products on the market which the FDA and Health Canada do not require to be proven safe, accurate nor truthful.

Whole food nutrition is the most important aspect to proper health and the goals should be to get as much as possible from what God has created.

We all know that today’s food sources are very different from prior generations. We have depleted soil and we do not really know how and when foods were treated, exposed, harvested, stored and handled.

In reality we do not get the right vitamins, minerals and nutrients in our everyday foods.

SADLY, MOST SUPPLEMENTS ARE SYNTHETIC or are so isolated that your body does not know what to do with them, hence the food products do not get into your body’s systems (90% of supplements are not bioavail-able).

FACT : with YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS (YL OEs) on their own or as part of specific products to be described later, the brain is absorbing Essential Oil within 22 seconds, the body and absorbs YL EOs within 20 minutes.

86% within 20 minutes versus store-bought Essential Oils and supplements there is only 42% absorption and requiring 24 hours….

…with Young Living Essential Oils this means that our body’s cells ABSORB nutrients that the cells were previously unable or minimally able to assimilate !

Essential oil molecules can penetrate cell membranes bringing an increase of 21% oxygen to cells within 20 minutes.

When inhaling through a diffusing device, the lipid-soluble structure of essential oils allows them to easily penetrate cell membranes of the nose and enter bloodstream to help transport oxygen for normal cell function and releasing chemical toxins in an oxygen-rich, ozone-rich environment.

The sense of smell is the only sense linked to the brain’s limbic system which is connected to those parts of the brain controlling heart rate, memory, stress levels, emotions, hormone balance.

Enter the world of ESSENTIAL OILS - the Egyptians in 3,500 BC used them both for religious purposes as well as therapeutically !

The Bible’s Three Wise Men brought the essential oils of frankincense and myrrh to the newborn baby Jesus.

                                         ESSENTIAL OILS

Essential oils are tiny organic molecular compounds that are extracted directly from the root, seed, bark, leaf, flower or fruit of a plant or tree.

The final product is highly concentrated as it contains the most powerful healing compounds of a plant. One drop has 40 million molecules.

220 pounds of lavender flowers to make one pound of pure lavender essential oil !

The power of an essential oil lies in its constituents and their synergy (working together). Essential oils are composed of 200-500 different bioconstituents…. all very diverse in their effects and benefits on health.

Lavender oil has 200 different constituents of which linalyl acetate, linalool, cis-beta-ocimeme, trans-beta-ocimeme, and terpinene-4-ol are the major components.

Our bodies have 100 trillion cells so 1 drop of essential oil has enough molecules to cover each cell with 40,000 molecules. It takes only 1 drop of essential oil of the right kind to impact a receptor.  “Receptors” are proteins that specifically bind with different types of molecules to help chemical communication with our bodies and the body has millions of receptors…

BUT with essential oils, we focus on sensory receptors and thermoreceptors (temperature, smell and touch).

Essential oils should be and are with Young Living CO2-extracted (extracted with as little heat as possible and with no chemicals such as hexane or ethanol).

Also preferably should be USDA Organic 100% pure therapeutic grade.

Essential oils are composed of very small molecules that can penetrate your cell membranes (including skin, blood other tissues) and some can even cross the blood-brain barrier...applied to the skin, essential oils can travel throughout the body in minutes.

Essential oils are different from fatty oils (eg. olive oil) that come from large molecules, hence essential oils are most easily absorbed.

Essential oils contain sulfur and nitrogen compared with fatty oils that do not have these.

The terpenoids in all essential oils are constructed out of the same building blocks – a five carbon molecule called isoprene.

    ENTER YOUNG LIVING COMPANY….

The ONLY COMPANY manufacturing truly PURE essential oils. 90% of the nutritional supplements that people buy are not fully bioavailable because they are synthetic.

1.   Young Living privately monitors their own 16 farms worldwide from British Columbia to Oman, Mexico, Croatia, South Africa, Idaho, Utah, Big Island Hawaii, Washington State, Ecuador, Philippines, Darwin Australia, Seville Spain, Calabria Italy, Naples Italy,  Split Croatia, Taiwan, 2 farms in France Cote d’Azur… deriving from their fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, roots, barks, stems and trees.

2.   They use ONLY non-GMO (non genetically modified organisms) seeds with only naturally propagated species of seeds in their fields (they permit the public to observe).

3.   They use only water pressure to distil oils.

4.   They do extensive quality control with physical, chemical and microbiological scientific tests of essential oils, Each test is repeated numerous times, beginning at farms and continuing through to finished bottled stages and shipping.

Such testing includes a) Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy measuring bond length of atoms in the oil, b) physical exam of oils’ aroma, colour and appearance (organoleptics), c) optical rotation by shining a light through an essential oil to determine overall chirality of the oil (for adulteration check), d) refractive index, e) specific gravity measuring an oil’s relative density compared to water, providing a general parameter and another measure of an oils’ authenticity, f) gas chromatography to determine molecular composition of the oil – verifies quality and tracks natural variation due to harvest conditions g) microbiological testing for micro-organisms, h) inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for heavy metals.

5.   Bottling – to prevent possibility of contamination, they use touch glass or stainless steel from the distillation process until finished bottling, the amber colour glass bottles protect against sunlight deterioration.

6.   Young Living has state of the art science labs for purity down to the parts per billion (PPB), capable of identifying one drop of contaminant in an Olympic-size pool.

One scientific study at Shiraz University Medical School reported a significant number of the 19 rose samples that they tested in competitors’ products did not actually contain rose essential oil but had cheaper versions of the oil and including adulteration and contamination with dibutyl phthalate which is a known ‘endocrine disruptor’ that damages organs, hormones and developmental health.

7.   They do not employ fractional distillation as most competitors do which are cheaper and easier to market.…. hence Young Living produces a truly unaltered botanical.

Unlike other companies, Young Living is not trying to “mimic” nature, but rather provides you with pure concentrated real nature.

Our bodies know what to do with the 10,000 phytonutrients in an apple but isolating vitamin C and taking in high doses is something that our ancestral DNA does not know how to use.

Furthermore, there often are harmful toxic ingredients in many, but not all supplements such as Blue#1, Yellow#5, Red#4, hydrogenated oils such as partially hydrogenated soybean oil, lead, mercury, PCBs, talc (cheap caking agent), titanium dioxide.

While Young Living offers many products as food supplements in three categories - nutrition for foundation, cleansing, targeting enzyme support, health of joints, heart, lungs, liver, brain, lymph system, hormones and more….Young Living also offers a huge array of essential oils for other therapeutic purposes for every body system.

HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS :

1.   Aromatically – when inhaled the blood vessels in the lungs absorb oils and circulate them throughout the body. One can either inhale directly from the open bottle or use a “diffuser” in your home/office air.

The olfactory system (nose) for smell is connected to the brain so what you smell goes into cells and bloodstream quickly.

By contrast, dried herbs and medicinal tinctures help health also such as ground ginger root, cinnamon, echinacea but are not as strong in effects.

2.   Topically, essential oils can penetrate the skin and pass into the bloodstream. This can be done by a) rubbing onto skin, b) added to warm bath water, hot or cold compress, soaps, lotions, shampoos and conditioners. N.B. many essential oils need to be diluted before applying to skin. This is done via “carrier oils” being combined with essential oils (carrier oils have larger molecules) thus a gentler application as well as staying on skin longer.

For example, to apply to skin…..combine 5 drops of an essential oil with ½ teaspoon of a carrier oil such as coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil….

3.   To take internally, use only one drop essential oil with carrier oil… may need to consult physician first as some can have adverse effects such as elevating blood pressure.

ALERT One must study and consult physician which essential oils can be taken internally. Some oils such as lemon and peppermint can be taken with water. One should not ingest the more potent essential oils for more than one week at a time.

The following essential oils CANNOT be taken internally : birch, black pepper, cardamom, cedarwood, citronella, clary sage, coriander, cypress, eucalyptus, tea tree, rose, wintergreen.

CONDITIONS THAT ESSENTIAL OILS CAN HELP :

FRANKINCENSE OIL – (also known as Boswellia) anti-inflammatory, improves complexion and mood, as reported in Dermatologic Therapy January 2010;23:1:528). It fights cancer (Biochemistry Biophysics Research Community July 2011;29:411(2)449 and Biomedical Research. February 2012;33(1):57 and

Journal of Pharmacology Science March 2015;127(3):332).

Frankincense has alpha-pinene which inhibits tumor necrosis factor -a and interleukin-1b, nitric oxide and mitogen-activated protein kinases.

Alpha-pinene reduces expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines while other researchers note it inhibited nuclear translocation of NF-kB induced by lipopolysaccharide in THP-1 cells as well as stimulating immune function by T cell activity.

Monoterpines and sesquiterpines are the primary valuable elements of frankincense, along with octanol, linalool, octyl acetate, incensole and incensyl acetate. One study showed that alpha-pinene was able to induce apoptosis evidenced by early disruption of mitochondrial potential production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), increase in caspase-3 activity, heterochromatin aggregation, DNA fragmentation and exposure of phosphatidyl serine on the cell surface (Evidence-Based & Alternative Medicine Vol.2011).

Other studies showed that Boswellia sacra accelerated advanced breast cancer cell death. Consistently it represses pathways and cell cycle regulators as well as via NRF-2-mdeidated oxidative stress that have been proposed as therapeutic targets for breast cancer.

MYRRH OIL was referenced 152 times in the Bible as a natural remedy containing terpenoids and sesquiterpenes that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It has been shown to reduce proliferation or replication of eight different human cancer cells (Journal Medicinal Plants Research April 2011).

It was shown effective against staph aureus bacterial infection and even moreso when used along with frankincense (Applied Microbiology Biotechnology November 2014;98(22):9447).

The journal Immunotoxicology March 2010;7(1):68 reported topical application of myrrh oil elevated white blood cells around skin wounds. Myrrh was shown beneficial against skin cancer cells in lab studies (Oncology Letter February 8, 2013).

Myrrh oil can be inhaled, diffused, applied topically.

…………………………………………

                        USING DIFFUSER

Use for 30-45 minutes at a time (some diffusers have timers to stop and all will run out of water), do not leave plugged in overnight, fill up with appropriate amount of water (not chlorinated), keep away from flames, room to be well ventilated, do not add carrier oils to a diffuser, periodically clean with soap and water, do not use essential oils in humidifier.

The following oil may irritate mucous membranes: clove, cinnamon bark, lemongrass, thyme.

OTHER – consult physician first on use if pregnant (eg, fennel, jasmine, oregano, rosemary, thyme, basil, birch oils), if on blood thinners (eg.birch,

frankincense) or high blood pressure.

If using clove oil internally, take probiotic supplement twice daily.

Avoid direct sun for 12 hours after using grapefruit or lemon oil.

DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY : basil, birch, black pepper, cardamon, cedarwood, citronella, clary sage, cyprus, eucalyptus, tea tree, rose, wintergreen oils.

UNSAFE ESSENTIAL OILS : cade oil crude, costus root, elecampane, fig leaf, horseradish, nightshade, pennyroyal, rue, saffafras, savin, southernwood, stinging nettle, styrax gum, tea absolute, wormseed, wormwood.

   Diffusers must be cleaned regularly.

RESEARCH has shown that essential oils greatly enhance ability of hormones and other medical products to penetrate the skin and enter the blood stream.

The International Journal Pharmacology April 2002;237(1):209 studied essential oils such as cajaput, cardamon, melissa, myrtle, niaouli and reported that they boosted estradiol hormone penetration through the skin and into the blood and tissues).

A dramatic increase in drug absorption was reported using formulations with eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils (Yao Xue Bao 1996; 31(3):214.

Today, 98% of essential oil volume is used in cosmetic and perfumes industries… only 2% for therapeutic and medicinal purposes.

Approximately 300 essential oils are distilled or extracted worldwide.

Young Living company’s products (in that 2%) are in a class of their own.
