#1 FRANKINCENSE (olibanum from the genus Boswellia)
YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS
was one of the first three gifts
given to baby Jesus by the three Wise Men
Frankincense is often termed
the “coconut of essential oils” - 10,000 uses. There are 1,100 references in
the Bible to essential oils.
This essential oil is sourced by
Young Living company from the leaves, stems, roots and hojari resins of the
Boswellia serrata tree in southern Arabian Peninsula (western Oman and east
Yemen).
It was never allowed exported
until 2010 when Young Living was given exclusive permission to grow and export.
BENEFITS
1. Can reduce stress, anxiety,
depression, is calming and meditative.
The incensole and incensole
acetate activate ion channels in the brain to relieve anxiety- (from research -

2. Immune system enhancement –
(Chinese Medicine July 2014; Naturforsch Journal Bioscience March 2003).
3. May help fight cancer – the
AKBA chemical in Frankincense was found to cause apoptosis ie. cancer cell
death via pathway dependent on caspase-8 activation but independent on Fas/Fas
ligand interaction - per journal Carcinogenesis Dec.2002 particularly
brain tumors, cells affected by leukemia, colon cancer);
Shown to kill cancer cells
that are resistant to chemotherapy.
Frankincense demonstrated
inducing tumor cell cytotoxicity (BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies

4. Promotes appearance of
healthy skin, may reduce skin irritation, wounds, scars –Journal of
Traditional & Complementary Medicine October 2013; Biochemistry Biophysics
Research Community July 2011;29:411; Biomedical Research February 2012;2291):57

5. May reduce inflammation by
inhibiting production of inflammatory molecules, mitigating against infection (Science
Reports September 2015).
6. Natural household cleaner.
HOW TO USE FRANKINCENSE OIL
1.Inhale via diffuser
2.Topically – apply directly
or can cover skin with a ‘carrier oil’ such as oils of coconut, moringa, jojoba
or Young Living’s V-6 veggie oil (or directly).
3.Bath soak
4.Skin night cream- 5 drops
frankincense oil + 5 drops lavender oil + ¼ tablespoon organic (soft) coconut
oil + ½ teaspoon olive oil
5. 5-10 drops in spray bottle
of water.

#2 SACRED
FRANKINCENSE Essential oil made only by the Young Living company is
the first Omani Frankincense to be available to other than the Saudi Royal
family or other privileged of Oman.
The Omani hojari resin
is harvested and manufactured only in Oman, and the Young Living company is the
exclusive company exporting it.
This therapeutic-grade
frankincense contains potent anti-inflammatory boswellic acids.
Sacred Frankincense contains
Boswellia sacra which has twice as much boswellic acid as Boswellia carterii.
Their extraction method is
steam-distilled from gum/resin.
Key constituents :
alpha-pinene (53-90%), camphor (1-4%),
sabinene (1-7%), paracymene (0.4-4%),
limonene (2-8%).
BMC Complementary &
Alternative Medicine December 2012;13:12:253 described Frankincense
essential oil prepared from hydrodistillation of Boswellia sacra gum/resins that
may induce death of human pancreatic cancer cells in cultures and in a
xenograft murine model.
BMC Complementary &
Alternative Medicine December 2011;11:129 reported on Boswellia
sacra essential oil may induce tumor cell-specific apoptosis and suppress tumor
aggressiveness in cultured human breast cancer cells.
Frankincense has alpha-pinine
which may inhibit tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and interleukin-1b (IL-b)
{anti-cancer}, plus nitric oxide and mitogen-activated protein kinases. Alpha-pinene
may reduce expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Other researchers have
noted that it inhibited nuclear translocation of NF-kB as induced by lipopoly-saccharide
in THP-1 cells, as well as stimulating immune function by T cell activity.
Boswellic acids in
Frankincense essential oil inhibit activity of the enzyme 5-lipoxygenase
that normally promotes formation of leukotrienes that facilitate inflammation (Natural
Chemistry Biology – peer reviewed journal article by pharmacist Dr. Werz at
Schiller University in Jena, Germany with scientists at Louisiana State
University).
